heh... the mole people have rivals
a humane creature that dwells underground or on land in night time. nocturnal for the most part, they can still move around at day time, though very sluggishly.
Dwellers vary alot from one another, but most of the characteristics are similar; they have horns, long ears, claws and a tail, only some have wings, look more humane (some more 'normal' looking ones could be depicted as looking like Smeagul from LotR than a normal person.) and have the ability to use elements.
some Dwellers don't have pupils, tail or even hair, and are said to be without a brain.
some Dwellers live amongst humans, wearing clothes made by them or even trying to hide the fact they're not human. these Dwellers are most likely exiled from the 'clan', don't fit in with the others or just like humans that much.
Dwellers live in huge passages underground, in societies, though there is some who live in small groups away from these societies, rejects or exiled.
Dwellers are great diggers, in groups could build miles of tunnel in a day. they can also sence vibrations in the ground and tell where the soil is the best usable or weakest, though it takes alot of learning to perfect.
New born Dwellers have the ability to turn to stone as they sleep when they're little, probably for protection since as they grow up and get stronger, this ability fades off.
most baby Dwellers have wings when they are born, but they are broken off when 'sleeping', either by accident or of the hands of their parents, only a handful are able to regrow them.
Dwellers age very slowly after a certain age, some may look the age of 5 and in reality be older than 500. the oldest Dwellers are looked up to and are pretty much the Elders of the society.
they have fast regeneration and healing, though it varies if a Dweller can regrow a limb or not, wings, horns and tail being the most difficult for them to regrow, taking years or never to grow back at all.
Dwellers are great at growing plants and hiding themselves from strangers that come through their tunnels.
Dwellers can live off of roots and even rocks, though most have a distaste for it (though their dumbwitted brethren like eating rocks ).
once there where as many Dwellers as there where humans, now only a handful live. there was a powerhungry 'clan' that couldn't be satisfied by having the largest population nor the largest of lands, they soon attacked the other societies for their land, slaughtering and getting slaughtered in return. those who were left alive were left with land soiled by blood, made unusable, and to starve from it. the Dwellers had become a myth, their many tunnels soon sealing themselves off as ages changed, and the only few left are scattered around the world.
((I'm going to probably edit this alot, make the Story more original and stuff... heh, I think I'm gona be the only one with a Dweller... ... be ready, for I'm gona make yet another Story! that'll never be finished ; ))
