There doesn't appear to be a videos section sooo... I guess this can go here.
Hello, ladies and gentlemen! For those of your unaware, I am, in my day-life, a student of Theatre and Performance, with my primary areas of focus being in Acting and Technical Management (aka, deciding where lights go, how and when they operate, as well as being in charge of the operation of sound, projection and other similar fields).
Here I shall be showcasing some of the pieces I've worked on. Hopefully you should find some enjoyment from them. Oh - and as a note, for recognitions sake, I'm the guy with the ponytail in these videos.
Pieces I've Performed In;[/u]
E.R.A 4 - Probably the piece I'm most happy with out of the ones which I currently have recorded evidence of. I act in this as a form of... secondary antagonist - I get to shout a lot and be angry, and it was generally a lot of fun. I think of the pieces here it's probably the best.
Fractures - Conversely now, probably the piece I'm least happy with. This piece is a lot more... 'abstract' in it's performance. A lot of it was produced more as a method of achieving marks than anything. Although I should note, as well as performing, I handled the entire technical/lighting side of this piece, deciding exactly how, when and why everything was lit, and programming it in to the lighting board. I'm quite happy with it on a technical basis, even if not a performative one.
Ll Sogno Italiano - An extremely recent piece in which I, once again, play an asshole. Apparently the part was written specifically for me by the Director - which shows the reputation I've garnered, eh? Anyway, this was part of a series of short 3 minute pieces based around the theme of 'Dreams'. It was a fun piece, and it was just a shame that it had to be shortened due to the time constraints of the task given to us.
Macbeth; Act V, Scene I (Apologies for poor video quality) - Alas poor Shakespeare, I performed thee relatively average. Another part of the 'Dreams' showcase. This is one of the hardest things I've had to work on. Learning lines is quite hard. Leaning Shakespeare is a nightmare. Even so, I believe the piece came out okay - I think there's an obvious slip-up here and there, but overall it went well.
Pieces I've Directed;[/u]
Antiwoke (Apologies for poor video quality) - A piece I directed for the 'Dreams' showcase. I'll be honest, this is the first time I've ever directed anything, so it's not fantastic. I wrote the script myself, which I'm quite happy with, but the outcome could've been better. The camera quality on this doesn't help, as there are some chalk markings on the floor important to the meaning of the piece. Still... I think it went okay, and hope to maybe explore expanding the script and trying to hand it on to a more experienced director.
Pieces I've Technically Managed[/u]
Dream Makers (Apologies for poor video quality) - As you can probably guess, this piece is another one for the 'Dreams' showcase, as the majority here are. Whilst I technically should only have had to operate the lights, whilst the director planned them out, the director had some troubles meaning he wasn't present for the tech sessions. As such, I had to plan and lay out the lights and lighting plan to his desires based upon his wishes. I think it came out well considering this last minute shift in plans, and think it suited the performance well.
Shopping And F**king - The last of the 'Dream' showcase pieces. I didn't do any Tech Design on this, just Tech Operation. The Director designed the lighting and how the AV was to be used, I just had to control it. Despite how simple it may seem, this actually had the hardest Technical Operation of all the pieces. In the tech box, the operations for the projection and the lighting as well as various sound controls were all spread across the box, meaning I had to run back and forth to try and time the opening perfectly without mishap. The final performance - the one recorded - is specifically the only time it went right.
